Biographies- Kylie Hance

Although she was born in the 80s, our very own dancer, singer and actress, Kylie likes to stress that she was not named after Kylie Minogue!

When Kylie was 4, her parents went to see a show by Chaplins Stage School in Northampton, and at that moment, they knew they wanted her to be a performer. Kylie is an all rounder, who adores singing, dancing and acting and thanks her parents for pushing her to do it...performing is her absolute passion.

Kylie's parents immediately enrolled her into Chaplins stage school (whos show they had just seen) where she studied dance, singing and LAMDA drama. She loved every minute of stage school and performed in their showcase shows at the Derngate Theatre in Northampton as well as at countless fetes and other events. Kylie worked her way through dance grades in Ballet, Jazz, Lyrical, Modern Theatre and Tap. She also took LAMDA Drama exams and performed at Drama festivals around the County.

Growing up, she was inspired by her father who was (and still is) a performer. At almost 60, he still performs on the island of Tenerife.

At the age of 15, Kylie left Chaplins as she had won a national competition to be in a pop group. Kylie moved to a band house in Kent and together with the group, sang all over the country. The group grew apart after 3 years and parted when she was 18, but she will never forget what was a very fun period in her life.

Kylie met fellow Launchers, Theresa and Francesca at secondary school. Kylie and Francesca's brothers were close friends and the pair shared a common interest in dance. They would often work together at GCSE and A Level choreography, performing in each others work.

Kylie went onto college and then to University to study a BA Hons degree in dance and also a PGCE in teaching. When she left university, she took a teaching job at Wrenn school in Wellingborough, where she feels very much at home, teaching secondary school children. She also met her husband at Wrenn and they now have a beautiful baby boy together.

Kylie leads a very busy life, juggling between being a mum, a teacher, a singer and a dancer with Launch Dance Company, but wouldn't change it for the world. Of Launch she has said that it feels great to be pursuing her passion again, that her life without dance and the rest of the girls just wouldn't be right...she now feels complete and is excited for the future.
